CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE

Flexible manufacturing line at OPS Sales Company.

Growth ambitions at OPS Sales Company reached a clear limit: production relied on labor-intensive processes that were difficult to scale. Introducing automation created capacity without replacing craftsmanship, balancing manual expertise with controlled, repeatable processes for heavy agricultural products.

About OPS Sales Company

OPS Sales Company is a US-based manufacturer serving the agricultural sector with farm gates and steel tubing. Operating from a small community in Dewey, Oklahoma, the company employs around 130 people. Production combines manual craftsmanship with in-house pipe mills that manufacture tubing. Their products are built for durability and strength, designed for demanding farm environments where reliability matters.

The challenge

Limited workforce availability constrained growth and production capacity. Around 40 to 45 employees handled the manufacturing of heavy farm gates, making scaling difficult. Manual handling increased physical strain and introduced ergonomic & safety risks. Demand continued to grow, but production could not keep up, leaving OPS without sufficient stock to sell. Moving towards automation felt complex and uncertain for a company without prior experience in automated production.

The solution

A fully automated production system was introduced to support and enhance existing manual processes. The system handles repetitive and physically demanding tasks while maintaining product quality and consistency. Alongside the main solution, additional improvements in upstream processes prepared materials for automated production.

  • Integration of automated gate manufacturing

  • Preparation of material for consistent input quality
  • Flexible production of different gate dimensions without extensive changeovers

Results

Production capacity is expected to double or even triple, allowing OPS Sales Company to meet the growing demand with confidence. The balance between manual expertise and automation reduces physical strain on workers while improving consistency and speed. OPS can now sell from stock rather than work behind demand. This first step into automation also lays a foundation for future expansion into other product lines and material-handling processes.
